About
In MFL, fundamental
and applied research (both experimental and numerical) on fluidization,
fluidized and spouted beds and
related gas-solid flow systems are carried out. We have been
investigating the gas-solid flow dynamics, heat transfer and gas/solids
mixing characteristics of fludized/spouted beds and related gas-solid
flow systems for various applications such as nuclear fuel coating,
drying and concentrated solar power (CSP) thermal energy storage.
Facilities/Equipment
- Different sizes of spouted and fluidized beds
- Optical probe for
particle velocity and concentration measurements
- In house gas mixing measurement system, infrared CO2 gas
analyzer
- Mass flow controllers, flow meters, pitot tubes, pressure sensors,
thermocouples, data acquisition systems, high speed camera
- LabVIEW software for data acquisition
- MFIX, FLUENT software for CFD simulations
